I’ve spent the last 18 months dreaming about flying abroad. We’re not quite ready yet, but when we are, I have a long list of family destinations I want to visit. The Mini Constants are desperate to get back on a plane.
We had a trip to Dubai booked just two weeks after England’s first lockdown in 2020, so we never made it. It’s still very much on our family list. Friends who live there share stunning photos — it looks incredible. I’ve already started checking flights for 2022; a Delhi-to-Dubai route looks like a realistic option and would give us a chance to see Delhi too.
I adore Morocco — the pictures and videos are beautiful. Marrakech stands out: the buildings are full of detail, the colours are lovely, and the food looks great for vegetarians. I can picture a camel ride in the desert, a dip in a warm pool, and wandering the markets.
Our last all-inclusive was in Crete in 2019. I love them because the kids are kept busy with activities and food all day. I’d like to explore more of the Greek islands and see more of Crete — especially the south of the island — so I’ve been looking at hotels there to plan our next trip.
Norway’s fjords look amazing. There are over a thousand of them, and the most famous include Nærøyfjord, Sognefjord, Lysefjord, and Geirangerfjord. These deep, narrow inlets of salt water with steep, forested cliffs look spectacular. Kayaking, walking the trails and staying in a wooden lodge there sounds like the perfect family holiday.
I’d also love to take the kids to New York at Christmas. After years of watching Home Alone, it would feel like bringing the movie to life — the big decorations, the ice rink, and FAO Schwarz with its famous giant keyboard would be magical.
Do you have any family travel spots on your list for 2022 and beyond? I’d love to hear your suggestions — I have a feeling my list will only get longer.
