We used to swap between winter and summer duvets, until we found Night Owl by The Fine Bedding Company. These coverless duvets look smart on the bed and are easy to keep clean — perfect for warm months and handy for staying on top of hygiene during lockdown.
They come in 4.5 tog and 10 tog, with the 4.5 tog ideal for summer. I love the colour range; they look very stylish. You can still use a cover if you prefer, but the main benefit is you can pop the duvet straight in the washing machine and it dries in about 90 minutes — great for a bedding-washing day.
The duvets use compressible fibres, so they squash into the drum easily and come out plump and fluffy after washing. They’re also very soft to the touch.
We chose Aurora for our bed and Isla’s, and Grey Marl for Noah’s room — the grey and red finish looks really smart. Each duvet comes in a compact duffle bag, which makes them easy to transport for camping or staycations. Our pets are also fans, and I don’t mind because I can wash them often.
If you’ve ever been annoyed by a duvet slipping around inside a cover, these solve that — no covers means no wonky bedding. We were gifted two single duvets and one double in exchange for our honest review.
