This one is a little different from my usual family and home posts, so bear with me. My partner’s birthday was coming up, and the only thing on his list was “a decent dry herb vaporizer, not a cheap one that breaks.” I had no idea where to start, and most of what I found online was either a wall of jargon or a page that loved every product equally.
So I did what I always do: I read the spec sheets, the manuals and the small print, compared the prices, and asked a lot of annoying questions. We ended up with a DaVinci, and he has been using it for a few months now. Below is the comparison I wish I had found, covering the three DaVinci dry herb models most people seem to choose between, plus the things I don’t love about them.
Who DaVinci is, briefly
DaVinci is an American brand that makes portable vaporizers for dry herb, plus a modular extract system called the EQ. Their dry herb devices all share the same basic idea: a small conduction oven you pack with ground material, precise temperature control, and a vapor path made of zirconia (a ceramic) and glass rather than plastic. The three models below are the ones that come up again and again: the IQ3, the IQ Core and the tiny MIQRO-C.
The three models side by side
| IQ3 | IQ Core | MIQRO-C | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price (Oct 2026) | $299 | $199 | $99.99 |
| Oven capacity | 0.7 g | 0.5 g | 0.3 g |
| Heat-up time | about 30 sec | about 45 sec | about 39 sec |
| Battery | Removable 21700, up to ~90 min | Removable 18650, up to ~60 min | Removable 18350, up to ~30 min |
| Temperature control | 1° steps + 4 Smart Paths | 1° steps + 4 Smart Paths | 4 Smart Paths |
| App | Yes, with dose tracking | No | No |
| Warranty | 10 years | 5 years | 5 years |
DaVinci IQ3: the flagship
The IQ3 is the one with every feature. It has the biggest oven, the fastest heat-up, the longest battery life and a companion app that can track how much you have used per session. DaVinci says its “Cool Core” piece makes the vapor up to 50% cooler than their earlier models, and there is an adjustable air dial if you prefer a looser or tighter draw. It is also the only one with a 10-year warranty, which tells you how long they expect it to last.
The catch is obvious: $299 is a lot of money, and the app and dosing features are things some people will never touch.
DaVinci IQ Core: the one we bought
The IQ Core is the newer “everyday” model, and it is what we went with. You get the same 1-degree temperature control and four Smart Paths (presets that slowly raise the temperature over a session), a glass-lined ceramic oven and a full zirconia mouthpiece and airpath, without the app. The oven holds 0.5 g, the battery is a standard removable 18650, and it weighs about 150 g, so it sits comfortably in a coat pocket.
At $199 it felt like the sweet spot to us. My partner’s honest verdict after a few months: it is simple, it feels solid in the hand, and he has never once opened an app for it, which suits him fine.
DaVinci MIQRO-C: the small one
The MIQRO-C is the budget and travel pick. It is tiny (about 80 mm tall and 87 g), charges over USB-C and uses the same Smart Path idea with four presets. The trade-offs are a much smaller oven (0.3 g) and a battery that DaVinci rates at around 30 minutes. If you only want short sessions now and then, that is plenty. If you plan to use it every day, budget for a spare 18350 battery.
Battery and charging: the boring part that matters
One thing I didn’t appreciate until we had one: all three models use removable batteries. That sounds minor, but it means the device isn’t finished when the battery is. You can swap in a charged spare, and in a few years you can replace a worn battery for a few dollars instead of replacing the whole device. Lots of cheaper vaporizers have sealed batteries, and that is usually what kills them.

What I don’t love
- The price. Even the MIQRO-C costs about $100, and you can find vaporizers for half that. You are paying for build quality, materials and the warranty.
- Conduction ovens need a little technique. The oven heats from the walls, so material in the middle can lag behind. Grinding finely and giving it a stir halfway through helps. It is a small learning curve, but it is there.
- It isn’t instant. Thirty to forty-five seconds of heat-up is fine at home and a little annoying when you are waiting for it.
- The MIQRO-C battery is short. Around 30 minutes per charge means a spare battery is close to essential for regular use.
- Returns are strict. DaVinci only takes back unused, unopened products within 14 days of delivery, with a 15% restocking fee, and you need a return authorization number first. Faulty units are a different story and are covered by the warranty.
- Cleaning is part of the deal. The manual recommends brushing out the oven after use and soaking the vapor path in isopropyl alcohol every few sessions. Not difficult, just one more job.
Buying, shipping and age checks
We ordered directly from DaVinci’s own website. At the time of writing, most orders over $50 ship free within the 48 contiguous US states, in a plain package via USPS (standard delivery took about a week for us). Expect an age verification step at checkout, which is exactly how it should be. If you buy from a third-party shop instead, check their return policy, because DaVinci’s own returns only cover orders placed on davincivaporizer.com.
So which one would I pick?
- IQ Core if you want one good device for everyday use without paying for features you won’t use. This is the one I would buy again.
- IQ3 if you want the biggest oven, the longest battery life, the app and that 10-year warranty, and the extra $100 doesn’t sting.
- MIQRO-C if you mostly want something small for occasional, short sessions or for travel, and you don’t mind carrying a spare battery.
And if you are buying it as a gift like I was, check the colors before you order. My partner was very specific about that, and I only found out afterwards.
