We recently took a family break to Rhodes with Jet2 Holidays and stayed at Blue Sea Holiday Village. The package made everything easy — prices included a suitcase per person, hand luggage, and transfers from the airport to the hotel. Choosing all-inclusive meant we didn’t have to worry about anything while we were away.
Our experiences with Jet2 have always been smooth. Even when queues looked long, they moved quickly. You can check in online and drop your suitcases at the airport, which saves time. The flights were comfortable, the staff friendly, and we even enjoyed the onboard pizzas both ways — great value at around £6. On arrival a Jet2 representative met us at the gate, directed us to the right coach, and the transfer bus had air conditioning, a toilet and Wi‑Fi. The driver pointed out sights on the way, and the trip to the hotel gave a lovely first view of Rhodes.
Blue Sea Holiday Village felt clean and welcoming from the start, with very friendly staff. Even though the resort is large, it’s easy to find your way around. We arrived late and appreciated the snacks left out for late arrivals. Our family room had two double beds, a balcony, plenty of shelving, a TV with English channels, a wardrobe with a free-to-use safe, a fridge, bottled water, and a shower room with a hairdryer. Towels are issued with a token at check-in and can be changed during the stay.
The reception area is comfortable, with sofas and chairs where we spent evenings playing Uno and enjoying cocktails from the Jungle Bar. There’s nightly entertainment by the main pool and a disco, so you can hear music from the restaurant balcony if you dine there.
Food was a highlight, especially for vegetarians. Breakfast offered cooked and continental options, fruit, breads, grains, yogurts, and freshly made waffles and crepes. Lunch and dinner included meats, fish and several vegetarian dishes — I had vegetarian lasagne and a vegetarian pie during our stay — plus a big salad buffet, a variety of vegetables, sauces and breads. The chips were a hit with the kids. I’d read some reviews about cold food, but we didn’t have problems; on one occasion I reheated my meal quickly next to the ovens and it was fine.
Between lunchtime and 6pm there’s a food court serving freshly cooked pizza, Greek dishes and crepes, which the kids loved and came in handy when we missed buffet dinner one night. Drinks in the restaurant include wine, beer, soft drinks and coffee (the cappuccino was good), and there are two bars offering cocktails and mocktails — I enjoyed an Aperol Spritz and the kids loved a banana-juice mocktail.
Everyone working at the hotel was helpful and accommodating. We were allowed a late checkout since our flight was in the evening, and housekeeping left little surprises in the room during our stay. My husband had a relaxing spa massage and there’s an indoor pool in the spa area.
Onsite shops sell clothes, swimwear and essentials like suncream and snacks, which is handy if you forget something. A 15‑minute walk away is Afandou with supermarkets, and Faliraki is about an hour’s walk to the west along the beach road. If you walk east from the hotel the beach is less stony.
The resort is split into three daytime zones: a kids’ pool, a quiet pool and the main pool with activities like music and aqua aerobics. The beach is roughly a 10‑minute walk away and is pebbly — the kids loved building stone sculptures and paddling in the sea. The guest mix included families, couples and some groups of younger people heading into Faliraki in the evenings, but the spread-out layout meant it never felt crowded.
Overall our all-inclusive holiday with Jet2 was very enjoyable and family-friendly. The kids didn’t want to come home, which says a lot. If you’d like to know more about our trip, I’m happy to answer any questions.
