I’ve pulled together some handy spring cleaning hacks for 2025, along with a few useful products you can buy. Some tips may be familiar, but seeing what others use always sparks new ideas. I love a good deep clean at the change of season — it’s the perfect time to get things ready.
An electric spin scrubber has been a game changer when serious elbow grease is needed. With several interchangeable heads it tackles hard floors, glass and mirrors, and even rugs and carpets. It charges quickly and shows battery life, so it’s one of the best tools to invest in this year.
For a quick fresh scent after cleaning, fill a washing bowl with boiling water, add a few capfuls of Zoflora and leave it for an hour. It’s an easy way to make the whole house smell lovely.
A crevice cleaning brush is far more effective than a toothbrush for tight spots. Use it around the shower, skirting boards, kitchen units and window tracks — it reaches places regular brushes can’t.
If you struggle with dust, try a natural furniture care set like Purdy and Figg. Regular use reduces surface dust build-up and the products smell great.
Microfibre mop pads are a reusable, more sustainable option than disposable wipes. I use them with a Speedmop — they last well, can be washed, and come in packs so you always have a spare while others are in the wash.
For tough dish and oven grime, Scrub Daddy and Scrub Mommy are brilliant. They don’t scratch surfaces, last a long time, and a small hook keeps the sponge handy and dry.
Ovens can be a real magnet for grime. A good oven and grill cleaner with a scraper tool, like Astonish, makes the job much easier. For oven racks, soak them in the bath with a good squirt of washing-up liquid, then give them a thorough scrub.
A lemon storage container is useful if you like cleaning with lemon. Citric acid is antibacterial and helps remove mould, mildew and even light rust. Storing halves in a container lets you reuse lemons and keeps them fresh in the fridge.
One last tip: add a few drops of Zoflora to the water tank of an electric steam mop. It helps kill bacteria and leaves the house smelling fresh.
If you have other spring cleaning hacks or favourite tools, I’d love to hear them.
