During lockdown our anxieties have increased and having a safe, comfortable place to rest has felt more important than ever. I’ve focused on sleeping better to support my immune system and to avoid feeling overwhelmed, so I added a few luxury touches to our bed to make it a true relaxation space.
Getting the right pillow matters to good sleep. Because I have dust allergies, I needed a pillow that won’t trap dust or trigger a reaction. I found bamboo memory-foam pillows from CosyBoo that are anti-dust, anti-mould and naturally antibacterial, and they’re certified free from harmful chemicals. We’ve been using them for months and I’ve noticed better posture—my neck and head stay supported—and they’re incredibly comfortable.
I also love the silky, removable cover that you can wash. They’re easy to keep clean, and the airflow through the pillows helps keep you cool at night. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll go back to a regular pillow.
We recently bought a new mattress too. At first it felt huge because it’s quite thick, but it’s made a big difference during lockdown. We chose the Sleep Soul pocket-spring mattress from Happy Beds; it has a pillow-top that adds extra comfort and support. I like a softer, cosier feel while my husband prefers firmer support, and the pillow-top gives us both what we need. Our bed feels bouncy and comfortable and has become a place to rest and reflect at the end of a busy day.
A good duvet is important as well. We were sent a hygienic, washable, breathable duvet from Night Owl that doesn’t need a cover if you don’t want one. It fits in the washing machine and dries in about 90 minutes, so you can wash it weekly and always climb into fresh-smelling bedding. It’s such a simple pleasure.
What have you added to make your bed more comfortable? Have you felt more tired since lockdown began? I’d love to hear what luxury touches you’ve added. Don’t forget to check out my Mattress Cleaning Hacks for tips on getting a better night’s sleep. The cat isn’t included!
