I’m allergic to dust and cats, so living with a fluffy cat in a house that collects dust has been a challenge—especially now that I work from home full time. Hoover’s Air Purifier 700 with diffuser and humidifier has made a real difference. It can clean the air in a 20 m² room in about 10 minutes, which means after I’ve cleaned my office I can keep working without feeling sniffly or tight-chested.
The unit uses a HEPA H13 filter that neutralises airborne allergens and pollen. I notice the biggest improvements at certain times of year: when I turn the radiators on after they’ve been off through summer and autumn, and during warmer months when the kids and pets are more active and stir up dust. Running around and playing tends to kick dust into the air, but the purifier clears it quickly.
I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks, usually right after cleaning and every morning before I start work. My nose and eyes feel less irritated and I haven’t had chest tightness. Next week I’ll try the detox diffuser to see how that affects my workspace. Before this, I’d have to wash my hands constantly, hold my breath when emptying the vacuum, and take breaks when cleaning dusty areas. Now I can blitz the house knowing the air will be purified within ten minutes.
Setting it up was simple. The plug and retractable lead are neatly stored, so no trailing cables, and once you remove the delivery tape and the filter bag it’s ready to go. The Hon app was quick to install and easy to connect. There’s a sleep mode so you can breathe more easily in bed—and hopefully reduce snoring—and although the purifier is fairly large, built-in handles make it easy to move around the house.
It also helps reduce cooking smells, so it’s handy after making curries or frying meat alternatives. I’ve noticed the air feels a bit cooler in my office too, thanks to the fan motion (it’s not an air conditioner).
