This week, Isla officially became a teenager, and I still can’t quite believe it. Thirteen feels like a big moment, and watching her grow into a confident, clever, and creative young woman has been one of the greatest joys of my life. We wanted her birthday to be as special as she is, filled with the people and things she loves. Celebrating Isla’s 13th birthday has been wonderful.
It seems like only yesterday she was toddling around in tiny pink wellies, collecting stones and chasing butterflies in the garden. Over the years she’s grown into a passionate and driven girl, especially in gymnastics. Seeing her progress through the classes and now thrive in the advanced group has been incredible to watch. She gives everything 100%, and her determination shines through in everything she does.
This year, we gave Isla more of a say in how she wanted to celebrate—and of course, she had ideas ready! She chose a relaxed day surrounded by family on her actual birthday (and I surprised her with a shopping trip), a small party with a few of her closest friends the week after, and a cake that truly reflected her style for our family gathering. She also has people to see, and she loves that her birthday isn’t just a one-day thing!
