Isla was thrilled to get the Playmobil Jumbo Advent Calendar. We’re big fans of advent calendars and of Playmobil, so this one felt like the perfect choice. Heads up: this review describes the contents, so consider it a spoiler if you want to be surprised.
The calendar is split into two parts, which makes the countdown feel extra special. On day one you build a small house — a proper little Playmobil house that can be used long after December. Then, each day you open a door to reveal furniture, outfits, accessories or characters. On Christmas Eve you get the final piece: a light-up tree. Tip: have AAA batteries ready for the tree.
Putting the house together took about 15 minutes; the instructions were clear and the pieces clicked into place easily. Over the month you add the tiny furnishings and clothes, so by Christmas Day you’ve built a full family home with festive outfits and decorations. I love the chandelier — when the room is dark the lit tree shining through the window really brings the scene to life.
For the review, Isla opened all the doors at once so we could photograph everything; it took us around two hours to assemble everything from the house through number 24. The set works well with other Playmobil toys, like the cafe or flower shop, so you can expand the scene. At £49.99, it feels like good value: your child gets a house and furniture to play with all year.
Isla has enjoyed playing with it every day, and it’s already become part of our Christmas decor. I’m even thinking of hiding little surprises inside on Christmas morning to keep the magic going.
